Season notes & sources
- Channel diving on the east side is best January–April with the clearest water (15–40 m); strong currents bring the sharks. Mantas peak in the southwest monsoon, roughly May/June–October.
- The central atolls lost over 40% of their live coral on average in the 2024 bleaching. Current-swept outer reefs and channels recover best (Reef Check found 51% hard coral at Kuda Falhu and stable or rising cover on outer sites in October 2025), while sheltered lagoon reefs are slower. Bleaching risk peaks in April–May.
